Discover the tropical paradise that serves as our DXpedition base – a stunning archipelago with ideal radio conditions.
The British Virgin Islands (BVI) are a British Overseas Territory nestled in the heart of the Caribbean, east of Puerto Rico. This stunning archipelago comprises four main islands—Tortola (our primary QTH), Virgin Gorda, Anegada, and Jost Van Dyke—along with over 50 smaller islands and cays. Their strategic location provides exceptional radio propagation paths to North America, Europe, and beyond, making it a coveted spot for DXers.
Renowned globally for its breathtaking natural beauty, the BVI boasts powdery white-sand beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters ideal for sailing and diving, and verdant, hilly landscapes. This idyllic setting not only offers a memorable experience for the team but also contributes to a low-noise radio environment.
The BVI is home to a welcoming community with strong ties to both British and Caribbean traditions. The islands maintain a relaxed pace of life while offering modern amenities and infrastructure. English is the official language, and the stable political environment as a British Overseas Territory provides reliable access for international visitors.
